Nearly 20% of children in Duval County are food insecure. School meal programs provide children with the healthy meals needed while school is in session, however, this year-round issue becomes especially evident during school breaks because access to these programs is limited to some, and impossible for others, making spring break one of the hungriest times of year for many children.
Feed Our Scholars™ Duval, addresses this problem by providing a week's worth of meals to students before they depart school for the spring break holiday. Students leave school with bags containing a meal for breakfast, a meal for lunch, and an afternoon snack for each of the five days they will be out of school.
Our goal is to help students return to school fresh and ready to learn following a well deserved vacation without the frustration of hunger.
We are confident that our business partners and the Jacksonville community will continue to embrace the opportunity to help our young scholars thrive!
Feed Our Scholars™ is supported by individual donors and corporate sponsors.
